Oh yeah AJ I agree! It did have an 80′s rock vibe. Somehow I was reminded of Duckie from Pretty in Pink. Only because they are both two eccentric characters and both very lonely… but still so different in character too though. Totally cool.
We're Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D'Sa and this is a blog about our directing work. Our first feature film CHERRYBOMB is in cinemas in the UK and Ireland from April 23 2010. We've gathered together here some of the ideas, influences and experiences involved in making the film, as well as bits and pieces on past and ongoing projects. We have a production company, Canderblinks Film and Music, with our friend and collaborator, David Holmes.
I really love Luke’s ensemble. It screams rock and roll! Can’t wait to see the film!
Now the stills for Luke’s inspiration and Luke himself reminds me of a more 80′s vibe. Adam Ant, without all fo the glitter and whatnot.
For some reason, in the movie, those white tennis shoes stood out to me. I guess because it was against those slim black jeans.

Duckie wasn’t really a conscious inspiration for Mal, but Lisa and I really love that film… I like the comparison
I can definitely see the Bob Dylan vibe too!
Can’t wait to see Michelle’s costume inspirations!
Luke needs a cuddle!
No way am I highjacking another person’s blog, but I just HAD to say that Duckie Dale is my favorite character EVER.
And to bring it back on topic, I thought of Duckie Dale in terms of the styling of Malachy, actually. Thanks for reminding me of that.
Ah, the New York Dolls and Richard Hell. What can I say? Absolutely nothing.
